What does the Honor Advisory Council do?
The Honor Advisory Council is a purely advisory group created to educate the campus
community about the Georgia Tech Honor Code and the conduct process for academic violations of the Student Code of Conduct. Many students ask if we hear conduct cases, but we do not. We are strictly advisory and proactive, helping students and faculty learn about honor and helping accused students through the conduct process.
What should I do if I am accused of an academic violation of the Student Code of Conduct?
Students who are accused of an academic violation will be notified by the Office of Student Integrity. Students should follow all recommendations in that email in a timely and complete manner. Also, students may contact an Honor Advisor or stop by during our office hours to learn about the conduct process and what their options will be throughout the process.
If I am found responsible of an academic violation, what are my appeals options?
Under the newly revised Student Code of Conduct, the appeals process is different for different types of violations. The appeals process may include the Honor Committee, a Dean, or even the Vice President of Student Affairs. Students who have further questions about the appeals process should meet with an Honor Advisor or visit the website of the Office of Student Integrity for more details.
Why should I meet with an Honor Advisor?
The conduct process can be very complicated and confusing at times. Although students are not required to meet with an Honor Advisor, they are encouraged to do so in order to fully understand the conduct process and make sure that they know all of their options. Again, we are here to help in any way we can.
